Not Cloris

You can't hear it but she's jamming to The Itsy Bitsy Spider. She's not Cloris Leachman but, well, that's OK.

I Peed A Little

This is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. Dh asked if I'd been hitting the flexaril. It's just that I remember the '70's and my mother's foray into Weight Watchers and I think I remember some of these foods.

For the 8th Year

Cub Scout food drive today-in the rain, the sleety rain, the very cold wet, wet rain. ~sigh~ We only collected about half what we did last year too. Times are not good, but please don't sit in front of your TV and refuse to answer your door. ~grump~
At least the boys learned that you keep your commitments, even if the weather stinks.

In a Different Time

he'd have been dumping tea in the harbor.

*note this was his own thing. I'm not sure how I raised a political child.

Goldengrove

Today is the last decent fall day predicted. Yuck! So, feeling maudlin I'll yet again pull out one of my favorite poems.

Spring and Fall (1880) by Gerard Manley Hopkins
Margaret, are you grieving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leaves, like the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Ah! as the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By and by, nor spare a sigh
Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you will weep and know why.
Now no matter, child, the name:
Sorrow's springs are the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed
What heart heard of, ghosts guessed:
It is the blight man was born for,
It is Margaret you mourn for.
