Chronological Advancement

Chris at The Big Yellow House had a post of 40 things she wants to do before she's forty. It meshed nicely with thoughts I've been having lately. My oldest dd is 13. She was horrified Sunday when I tried on thigh high, spike heel, black boots. She also cringes if I comment that I think someone looks hot. I try to remember what I would have thought when I was 13. Undoubtedly the same thing she's thinking. Of course, she is probably more sedate than I ever was. She declined my chaperonage on her class trip, not because she thought I'd cramp her style, but because she feared I'd get us in trouble and thrown off of the trip. Well, yeah, that is a possibility, but geesh! So, now that I'm past forty,( and not about to create a list of fifty things to do before my next decade) I've been trying to think of what there is left that I'd like to do. The answer is scary. I think I've done about everything I really, really want to do. Oh, seeing the pyriamids would be nice, but it's not a must do. I guess I'm just hoping to get in trouble in the nursing home and have them call home to my kids to straighten me out.

This weekend at the beach I chewed out a surfer for bringing his aggressive dog to the beach. The durn dog attacked my kids, and the only reason they didn't get bit was because the dude called the dog off of them. Thank God he had just come in from a surf session when the dog went nuts. He got an ear full from me, but it made me feel so.....old.

Bill and I talked on the way to the beach this weekend and came up with a plan to take a year off and travel with the kids. Our goal is May of 2007. Sell everything, buy a new truck and a 5th wheel and go exploring!! Not sure if we will be able to swing it financially or not, but the dream is sure fun!! That is my goal before I turn 45.

I love the image of your children being called by the nursing home. Too funny.

I'm with you on this one, so I don't find it scary. If I die tomorrow, there isn't anything I'll be wishing I could have done. There are some things that would be fun to do, and I still may do them, but they're not critical.

Hey this is a great idea.... and just a thought but I had my grandma (age 82) here this weekend, and I think she is getting even more spunky with age. I don't think that she will ever go to a nursing home but I bet we would get called if she where.

I'm grinning thinking about those thigh high boots.

I read Chris's post too, but since I only have 7 months until I'm 40, I figured it's pointless to make one of those lists. I can't even make it out of the house half the time, never mind to Italy where I really would love to go.
